Is TOPDON a good brand?

All TOPDON products go through a rigorous quality control process to be ready for strenuous work environments that shops demand. Recently, TOPDON products have won awards for design and value.

What kind of products does TOPDON make?

TOPDON makes a wide variety of products for the automotive aftermarket industry. Our most significant product lines are our Phoenix scanners and our new ADAS line. The Phoenix scan tools are OE-Level diagnostics tools that offer a variety of functions and can pair with the Phoenix ADAS calibration sets, offering a variety of vehicle coverage for Asian, American, European, and exotic vehicle makes. TOPDON also makes battery repair tools, jump packs, battery testers, key programming tools, power stations, and thermal imaging cameras.

Does TOPDON provide training or training materials?

TOPDON is currently developing in-depth video training materials for TOPDON products which are posted on TOPDON’s official YouTube channel. TOPDON is already involved in live training events to equip businesses with the skills to generate new andlong-lasting revenue opportunities.

What kind of warranty does TOPDON provide?

TOPDON’s standard warranty on our products is one full year. As long as users renew subscriptions on certain tools the warranty will continue with the subscription. Certain tools such as the Tornado90000 have a longer warranty. 

Below is our standard warranty: 

TOPDON warrants to its original purchaser that the company's products will be free from defects in material and workmanship for 12 months from the date of purchase (Warranty Period).  

For the defects reported during the Warranty Period, TOPDON will either repair or replace the defective part or product according to its technical support analysis and confirmation. 

TOPDON shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising from the device's use, misuse, or mounting.  

Some states do not allow limitation on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you. 

This limited warranty is void under the following conditions: 

Misused, disassembled, altered or repaired by unauthorized stores or technicians.  

Careless handling and operation violation. 

How do TOPDON Phoenix Line subscriptions work?

Phoenix tools require a subscription and are renewed annually. Once the subscription is renewed all updates for the tool are covered for the full year. TOPDON’s limited warranty will continue with the subscription. The tools will continue to function without a subscription; however, the tools will not be available for updates, functions may be limited, the tool will no longer be covered by the warranty, and programming functions may be inaccessible.

Which scan tool is best for me?

The best scan tool will depend on your needs and budget. We recommend you check our entire diagnostics tool line and compare each product. Generally, our ArtiLink scanners are best for entry level scanning jobs, the ArtiDiag series is best for those looking for more well-rounded features but not seeking advanced vehicle functions, and the Phoenix series is best for professional technicians who need advanced scanning and programming capabilities.

What tools perform maintenance services?

Several TOPDON scan tools can perform maintenance service functions. All Phoenix tools offer a large selection of maintenance services, and the ArtiDiag line of scan tools offer at least five maintenance service functions.

What other tools can I pair with my Phoenix scan tool?

TOPDON makes multiple tools that expand the capabilities of Phoenix your scan tool. These tools include the BTMobileProS, the Phoenix ADAS packages, and the T-Ninja Box. The BTMobileProS is an advanced Bluetooth-enabled battery tester that connects to the Phoenix scan tool. TOPDON’s Phoenix scan tools partner with the Phoenix ADAS mobile packages. The T-Ninja Box is the new immobilizer box offering broad programming options for European vehicles.

Can I diagnose heavy trucks with TOPDON tools?

Yes! TOPDON’s Phoenix Smart and Phoenix Max can both diagnose heavy-duty trucks with TOPDON’s special HD software download.

Can I perform online programming with TOPDON tools?

Yes. Almost all Phoenix scan tools can perform online programming.

How do I activate my device or new VCI connector?

a. If this is your first time using the tool, please refer to “initial Setup” in the user’s manual for activation

b. If you have previously activated your device and need to activate a replacement VCI:

i. Launch the application from the home screen

ii. Select “Personal Center” > “Activate VCI”

iii. Input VCI S/N and Activation Code > select “Activate”

NOTE: Your activation code can be found in the supplied password envelope. If you do not have your activation code please contact tech support at 855-909-8960

iv. Verify successful activation, select “Personal Center” > VCI. Your newly activated VCI connector should be displayed in the list of activated VCI’s

How do I set up a network connection?

METHOD 1

Wireless Connection:

NOTE: WLAN increases power consumption of the tool.  To conserve power only use WLAN when needed

1. From the home screen select “Setting”> “WLAN”

2. Turn on WLAN (the tool will begin scanning for available networks)

3. Select your preferred network and enter password if necessary

4. The tool will indicate “connected” when a successful connection is made

METHOD 2

Wired Connection:

1. Use a network cable to connect to the Ethernet port on the tool

2. From the home screen select “Setting”>”More”>”Ethernet”>select “Use Ethernet”

How do I retrieve my log in and password?

a. Launch the application from the home screen

b. Select [Login] in the upper right corner of the screen 

c. Select “Forgot password” on the lower left corn of the login screen

d. Input the product S/N and follow the on-screen instructions to set a new password

I've lost my charger/adaptor(s). What do I do?

a. Contact support at 855-629-4832 to order a replacement charger.

TOPDON USA will not be liable for any damage or loss resulting from the use of non-specified chargers or unauthorized adapters

What can I do to optimize my battery life?

a. Turn off screen when not in use (a short press of the power button turns off screen)

b. Adjust the standby time of the screen

c. Adjust the screen brightness

d. Turn off WLAN when not in use

e. Turn off GPS function

How do I restore to factory settings? WARNING: Back up your data as all data will be erased.

a. Power on the device

b. From the home screen select “Setting”> “Backup & Reset”

c. Select “Restore factory settings”

d. Select “Reset tablet”

e. Select “Clear all” and wait for the system restore to restart the tablet

How do I update my diagnostic software?

a. Verify the tool is connected to the internet

b. Select the “Software Update” button on the diagnostic application home screen

c. By default, all available updates will be selected. Select “Update” to begin downloading. The tool will automatically install the updates as they are downloaded

d. Once complete the tool is ready to use

Can I remove carlines I don't need?

a. Yes

i. Simply long press the carline you want to remove, and a confirmation window will pop up allowing you to remove the carline

ii. When updating the software use the “Common” tab instead of “All” in order to not re-install the removed carline every time you update the tool

How do I pair a VCI connector to the handset?

a. If the VCI does not automatically pair to the handset when connecting to a vehicle perform the pairing function in the system settings

i. Plug the VCI connector into the vehicle’s DLC. Turn on the ignition

ii. From the home screen select “Setting”>”Bluetooth”

iii.Confirm Bluetooth is turned on and searching for available Bluetooth devices

iv.The VCI will be identified by the S/N located on the VCI. Select the VCI, the system will connect to the VCI and the status will display “paired”

What batteries and engines can I search with TOPDON's Jumpsurge series?

Each JumpSurge can jump 12V car batteries. The JumpSurge1200 can work on vehicles with up to 6.5L gas and 4L diesel engines. The JumpSurge2000 can jump up to 8L gas and 6L diesel engines. The JumpSurge3000 can jump up to a 9L gas and 7L diesel engine.

What kind of batteries can I repair with the Tornado90000?

The Tornado90000 can work on 12V and 24V lead acid batteries, and 24V lithium-ion batteries. Subcategories include Wet, Gel, MF, CAL, EFB, WRLA, EFB, and AGM batteries.
