Purpose

The TOP-UP Academic Initiative was created to help close the skills gap through product donations, as well as monetary scholarships to help faculty and staff, across the country, create learning experiences and transform classroom environments into places where students can explore, learn, and build their skills using, hands-on innovative technology.

Donations

TOPDON has donated over $250,000 in cash and products through TOP-UP to support organizations and training centers dedicated to preparing the next generation of auto technicians. Our goal is to build a stronger automotive industry, and we believe that begins with helping students who are seeking to expand their education and improve their lives through skilled labor.

Commitment

As a company, TOPDON is committed to fulfilling its mission of supporting the future automotive workforce through their TOP-UP Academic Initiative created in 2022.

We understand that a traditional degree from a major university is not the right path for many students. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 7 million jobs available across the country, the majority of which don’t require a four-year degree.

That’s why our TOP-UP program is designed to support the nation’s community colleges and trade schools, as well as programs at higher learning institutions that are dedicated to building up the automotive trade workforce.

  • Area 31 Career Center

“We’re grateful to TOPDON for their donation to Area 31 and believe it will give our students endless possibilities to advance their education and career in the transportation industry. Their products help foster a more advanced way of thinking and solving complex mechanical issues. Additionally, TOPDON’s scholarship will support students who continue their education at a college or training program after attending Area 31.”

    - Brittany Kloer, Director of Career and Technical Education at Area 31 Career Center
  • TechForce Foundation

“We appreciate companies like TOPDON that not only recognize but invest in our mission to champion all students to and through their technical education and into careers as professional technicians. It takes all of us working together and pitching in to make the greatest impact and change the lives of young people through career development.”

    - Jennifer Maher, Chief Executive Officer of TechForce Foundation
  • University of Toronto's Formula SAE Racing Team

“Our team had the opportunity to meet the TOPDON team during the special unveiling of our newest racecar UT24, in March. We were excited to share how TOPDON’s thermal imaging cameras helped us maximize tire performance by understanding how each tire was affected by heat and air pressure. The thermal cameras were instrumental in the development of our EV racecars to track and monitor critical battery temperatures. This allowed us to identify hotspots and uneven temperature distribution that could compromise the performance and life of our batteries.”

-Daniel LaRosa, Principal and Mechanical Technical Director, University of Toronto’s Formula SAE Racing Team
