Watch & Learn: Programming an ABS Module with TOPDON Tools

Everyone loves a good mystery, unless it involves solving the problem behind a troublesome fault code while the clock is ticking. But with a little guidance and the right tools, finding the culprit behind an unwelcome warning light can have you feeling like a detective who just cracked the case.

On TOPDON’s YouTube channel, Haakan Light, National Training and Development Manager for TOPDON USA, tracks down a fault code mystery in the video ABS Module Programming From TOPDON. The subject vehicle, a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta, displayed a fault code that indicated a Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module was the issue. The problem? The car was not equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring Control Module.

In solving the mystery, Light demonstrates the importance of checking manufacturer Technical Service Bulletins and software updates. The tools for the job were the TOPDON Phoenix Smart OE-level scan tool with cloud-based programming and the Tornado90000 smart charger for steady voltage while programming.

“We wanted to demonstrate how useful it is to have access to the cloud-based programming feature on the scan tool,” Light said. “All of the TOPDON Pro Series tools have some form of the cloud-based programming.”

The video walks you through how Light eliminated the trouble code and programmed the ABS module, including showing what the process looks like on the scan tool. If you like a good technical mystery with a satisfying conclusion, click on the video and follow along.
